Job Summary: The Distribution Compliance Specialist ensures that all cannabis distribution activities comply with state and federal regulations. This individual is responsible for overseeing the tracking and reporting of product movement, maintaining accurate distribution records, and ensuring that all products are distributed in line with legal and compliance requirements. The role also involves managing ERP systems for compliance-related data and acting as the communication liaison between distribution teams and regulatory bodies. The Distribution Compliance Specialist will play a critical part in keeping our distribution channels efficient and compliant, helping to safeguard the company's reputation and legal standing in the industry.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all cannabis distribution activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including METRC or equivalent track-and-trace systems.
- Stay current on cannabis distribution laws and regulations and make necessary updates to company practices.
- Conduct regular audits of distribution operations to ensure full compliance, identifying potential risks or gaps.
- Tracking and Reporting:
- Track the movement of cannabis products from the manufacturing facility to retailers or other licensed entities, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs for incoming and outgoing shipments and ensure data integrity in the track-and-trace systems.
- Prepare and submit all required distribution reports to regulatory authorities in an accurate and timely manner.
- Distribution Records:
- Maintain comprehensive records of all product distributions, including shipping logs, chain of custody documents, invoices, and compliance certificates.
- Ensure records are readily available for regulatory audits and inspections.
- Communication and Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between distribution teams, compliance officers, and state regulatory agencies to ensure smooth communication of compliance requirements.
- Work with internal teams (e.g., production, logistics, and sales) to ensure seamless distribution operations and resolve compliance-related issues.
- Communicate changes in cannabis distribution regulations to internal stakeholders and ensure adherence to new policies.
- ERP System Management:
- Manage ERP software related to distribution tracking, ensuring all product movement, inventory, and compliance data is accurately logged.
- Train distribution staff on the proper use of ERP systems for regulatory compliance and record-keeping.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure ERP systems align with distribution compliance needs and support efficient operations.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- HS Diploma, GED, or bachelor's degree in business, compliance, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a compliance role within a regulated industry (e.g., cannabis, food, pharma, alcohol, etc.).
- Experience working with cannabis track-and-trace systems (e.g., METRC) and ERP systems for distribution and compliance.
- Knowledge of state and federal cannabis distribution regulations, particularly in delivery requirements, packaging/labeling, and record retention.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with regulatory bodies and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills for addressing compliance issues.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
