Job Summary: The Compliance Manager strategically ensures the company's compliance with state marijuana regulations and the seed-to-sale tracking system, METRC. The Compliance Manager is professional, highly organized, and articulate.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of compliance professionals.
- Coordinate training programs to ensure staff is well-informed on compliance standards.
- Foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Oversight:
- Stay abreast of changes in cannabis regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide strategic guidance to leadership on compliance matters.
- License Management:
- Oversee the application and renewal processes for cannabis licenses.
- Ensure all licenses are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies to resolve license-related issues.
- Audit and Inspection Preparation:
- Conduct regular internal audits to assess and ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement strategies to address and rectify any compliance issues.
- Prepare the organization for external regulatory inspections.
- Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop and update compliance policies and procedures.
- Implement and enforce policies to ensure company-wide compliance.
- Provide guidance on policy interpretation and application.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Establish and oversee a robust documentation system for compliance-related activities.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping practices and documentation for audits and inspections.
- Conduct periodic reviews to confirm the accuracy and completeness of records.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and regulatory authorities.
- Communicate compliance updates and changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to leadership as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be at least 21 years of age to apply.
- Knowledge of METRC.
- Strong understanding of BCC, state Medical Marijuana regulations, and the state Department of Cannabis Control, their roles, and expectations.
- General understanding of FDA regulations preferred.
- Ability to thoroughly read and understand the contents of a Certificate of Analysis (COA).
- Ability to independently implement, write, and produce batch records that meet or exceed regulatory standards.
- General knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills for physical and digital record retention.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced math skills.
- Highly detail-oriented.
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of compliance experience in a highly regulated industry.
- 2+ years of experience working in cannabis compliance.
- Specific experience in cannabis cultivation/manufacturing operations is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other quality standards.
- Experience leading inspections and audits and completing corrective action plans.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm.
